Johnson), August 2, 1974 -- This history relates Baker's experiences as a Nacogdoches Commercial Bank employee during the depression, the role of Nacogdoches banks in the East Texas farming system, personal experiences and the condition of the black man during the depression. Johnson), July 25, 1974 -- This history tells of Burns' experiences in Shelby County as a sheriff and grocery store operator during the depression, his views of the election of 1932, Franklin D. Johnson), July 22, 1974 -- Ms. Bowlin discusses her experiences and memories of conditions in Shelby County and how people cared for their families with regard to clothing and food during the depression. Whitehead recalls her years as a student at SFA in the mid 1920's including faculty, campus and community life. She discusses her teaching career, her experiences rearing seven children in rural East Texas, the Presbyterian Methodist combination church at Trawick, the depression of the 1930's and World War II. Steele Wright - (by Bobby H. Johnson), August 14, 1074 -- These are the experiences of a young man who came to Nacogdoches with his father, in 1930, to start Texas Farm Products Company. Wright discusses the social, economic, and agricultural conditions in East Texas during the depression, when things began to improve, Franklin Roosevelt and the New Deal programs, and the lasting impact the depression had on his life.
