Abraham and Joanna Armstrong Crim were the founding pioneers of the Texas branch of the Crim family. They had twelve children, most of whom, along with their parents, are buried at Crim's Chapel in Rusk County. Established in 1854, Crim's Chapel is a farming community about seven miles north of Henderson. Descendants of Abraham and Joanna have contributed to the growth of Rusk County and Henderson by being involved in business and community affairs. Arrington Crim, a grandson of Abraham, and Otis Crim, a great grandson of Abraham, were both engaged in the funeral business in Henderson. The A. Crim Funeral Home was founded by Arrington Crim in 1925. Later, the business was sold to Billy Crawford and was known as the Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. Otis Crim established the Otis Crim Funeral Home. It was also named the Otis Crim & Tennison Funeral Home for a number of years.
The collection consists of the daybooks, also called year books, of the four different Funeral Homes mentioned above. Included in the books were notations of ambulance trips made to transport sick people from home to the hospital and back, of funeral and memorial services held, and of other business related activities.
