The East Texas Research Center (ETRC) houses primarily historical records. For current county records contact your county courthouse.
COUNTY RECORDS
The ETRC only houses historical county records from the following counties:
Angelina, Cherokee, Nacogdoches, Panola, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine and Shelby. Some records from these counties are available through your local public library using interlibrary loan.
All other Texas counties are available through your local public library from the appropriate regional library.

MANUSCRIPT COLLECTIONS
If you are requesting information from a specific personal, corporate or other collection, then please provide the name of the collection, box and folder number the material is located in. This information is available from the collection finding aid.
GENERAL RESEARCH
For general search requests provide the following information:
Researchers are asked to limit requests to two (2) names at a time and to wait for a response to one request before submitting additional requests.
Your request will be returned if it does not fit this criteria.
The ETRC reserves the right to decline filling requests if volume makes it prohibitive. Requests will be filled as staff time becomes available. Requests are normally filled in the order they are received; however, more complicated requests will take more time to fill. We will contact you if we can not honor your request.
A list of private researchers will be provided for those needing more extensive services. The East Texas Research Center does not sponsor nor guarantee the work of the individuals. We provide their names as a service to our patrons who are in need of additional help with historical, genealogical, and/or local history research.
Photocopy cost is $.25 per paper page and $.50 per microfilm page. At this time our copying policy is under revision. Unless an expenditure limit is set in advance by the researcher, authorization to produce photocopies will be requested for billings that exceed five (5) dollars.
Please use the library's AskALib form to submit requests or email asketrc@sfasu.edu.
