LibQUAL+ is a suite of services that can be used to assess and improve library services. The survey, which takes 10-15 minutes to complete, includes 27 questions on users expectations for specific resources, services, and environment; demographic questions, questions about respondents' use of Steen Library, and a box for comments.

Digital Projects

Hours: M-F 8am - 5pm

The Digital Projects department develops and coordinates projects for the SFA community, within the Steen Library, and beyond. Currently, Digital Projects is developing the Teaching Images and Digital Experiences (TIDES) web site.

East Texas Research Center

Hours: Mon. – Fri.  8am – 5pm  Sat.  10am – 6pm

The ETRC collects, preserves, and provides physical and virtual access to East Texas’ unique cultural history. The Research Center was designated by the Forest History Foundation as an official North American Forest History Repository in 1959. In addition, the Research Center serves as a Regional Historical Resource Depository (RHRD) for the State of Texas and houses the inactive records for eight East Texas counties. The ETRC also is responsible for managing SFA’s Records Management Program and caring for the University’s archives. ETRC outreach efforts include presentations to the University, East Texas, and professional archival communities.

Library Systems / Web Services

Hours: Regular Hours*

Library Systems and Library Web Services maintain the library's web site and computer labs, and offers limited tech support for patrons in the labs. The computers provided have a suite of software also available to the general public, including Microsoft Office 2007. Printing is available in the labs, please visit the Departmental page for detailed information on pricing. Faculty should also visit the departments' page for information on using the OpScan grading station.

Research and Instructional Services

The RIS department is made up of professional librarians who are available to assist all users in finding information on any subject for any type of research project.  There is one-on-one help available at the first floor Reference Desk, by appointment, as well as via e-mail at: https://forms.sfasu.edu/libweb/askalib.html.

Cataloging

The Cataloging Services Department supports the teaching and research programs of the university by cataloging and providing access to selected materials for the library, and is responsible for maintaining the library's catalog database.
